About Me
Hello, I'm Susan: a teacher, mom, wife, runner and writer behind Teach and Run's pages.
I've been teaching for 22 years and running for 36 years. I have taught every grade in elementary school from K-5th. I was in Intervention for 5 years and loved helping students find success in reading and math. My biggest successes have come from igniting the love of reading in my students. Experience has taught me that students' reading success will skyrocket beyond your wildest expectations once you find that one book that changes their thinking about reading. I think it's a simple thing to do, but will require some specific actions from you as the teacher during the school year to make it happen. I hope you will find my blog helpful for you as I share my classroom strategies to building this love of books.
My passion for great books extends to my love of writing. I belong to several writing groups and enjoy creating characters that I hope people will enjoy reading about. When I am not in the classroom I am spending time with my family hiking, camping, or just adventuring around. After everyone goes to bed, you can find me typing away working on my writing projects.
In between teaching, momming, and writing, I run. I run to stay sane. I run to stay healthy for my family. I run to wash off the stress of my life as a teacher, so that I can be the best mom, teacher, writer and teacher creator I can be. I love to challenge myself to run in distance events. If you run then you understand, I can't tell you who I am without talking about running.
I hope you have fun browsing through my blog. I love hearing from fellow educators so feel free to leave a comment.
Thanks for stopping by!
